Dalia is a pre-primary teacher who has been in charge of the library project for four years. She also helps coordinate activities to aid with literacy and comprehension, and to increase the children’s vocabulary. “I am filled with happiness and satisfaction to know how much the children gain from their visits here. For many, the library offers the care and attention they long for but do not receive in their own home.”

The reason that I am working at Open Windows is because I enjoy helping people and because it makes me feel like I am being useful for San Miguel Deuñas. While I have been teaching at Open Windows, I have also learned greatly at this institution and through training workshops. As such, I am becoming a better teacher every day.

Nilda Cristina Girón

In the time I have been working at Open Windows, I have learned more than I have taught. I think that every child is a world full of hopes, happiness, questions and dreams. Every child, with their homework and questions, has made me study more, research current topics, and learn different techniques in order to facilitate learning. At Open Windows, there are no monotonous days. Every day brings something different, and the opportunity to provide young people with a little bit of what they need makes me feel useful and important. I see my work at the library as an opportunity to continue growing and learning.

As a computer teacher there is a responsibility and opportunity to provide quality educational programs where children are able to learn and have fun at the same time. It is satisfying to watch the children who have developed new skills.
